When
infertility strikes
Causes of female infertility
There are many reasons that could cause a woman to be infertile from damage
to reproductive organs to early menopause. Some of the most common causes of
female infertility are:
* Ovulation disorders.
* Early menopause
* Fallopian tube damage
* Fallopian tube blockage
* Endometriosis
* Pelvic adhesions
* Ovulation disorders
* Uterine fibroids
* Polycystic ovary syndrome
* elevated prolactin levels
A very prominent discussion among women
sometimes is about menopause but what about when it interferes
with your
plans to conceive. Some females develop
early menopause otherwise known as premature ovarian failure. The reason
is often unknown as to why a particular woman prior to
the age of 35 would go
into menopause thus an absence of menstruation.
But there are some conditions
that can be commonly associated with its occurrence such as:
* Hypothyroidism which results in too little thyroid hormone
* Smoking of tobacco
* Autoimmune disease where the body’s antibodies attack its own ovaries
* Radiation and chemotherapy treatments fro cancer
A tubal infection might cause fallopian
tube damage or even a blockage. The condition usually happens
as a result
of some type of inflammation
in the
fallopian tube. This type of condition might go unnoticed on the other
hand it can cause
noticeable fever and pain. One of the most common causes of tubal inflammation
is Chlamydia.
If the fallopian tubes become infected,
that can result in enough damage to cause an issue with fertility.
The
resulting damage to
the fallopian
tubes will cause scarring and blockages that can prevent pregnancy
or cause a tubal pregnancy. One very often painful condition that
can interfere with fertilization is called endometriosis. There
is tissue
in the uterus that lines the
inside that can
spread to the fallopian tubes, ovaries and to the outside wall of the
uterus. It is not something it supposed to do but it does and in the
process of
implanting
itself on these internal parts it goes through the normal female cycle.
The growths bleed, grow, and shed each
month in combination with the menses. This causes scarring
and inflammation along with pelvic pain.
This condition
can
lead to infertility very easily and is quite common.
A problem that results after a surgical
operation is often scarring in an excessive manner. There are
bands of scars
that connect and
bind organs
that
can cause
an impairment of fertility, limit proper functioning of the ovaries
and the fallopian tubes. These pelvic adhesions can result from
appendicitis, an
infection, or surgery.
There is a condition call asherman’s
syndrome that can occur after surgery that is applied to help control
bleeding in the uterus from giving
birth. The procedure can result in a closed up uterus or blockage
of the uterus with scar tissue.
While there are infertility issues related to ovulation that
causes deficiencies in hormones that affect ovulation. Even small
fluctuations
in the hormone
production can result in impairment. The disorders are known
as hypothalamic and pituitary
disorders. They can be caused by:
* Anorexia nervosa
* Pituitary tumors
* Excessive exercise
* Direct injury to the hypothalamus
* Direct injury to the pituitary gland
There are other causes to possible too
such as:
* Medical conditions and diseases
* Cancer treatment or chemotherapy
* Temporary infertility due to medication
* Hyperthyroidism
* Hypothyroidism
* Reproductive cancers
While there are many possible causes of
infertility there are some things you can do to help you remain
fertile as
long as
possible
and possibly
prevent a problem. Some of the steps you can take are:
* Eat healthy balanced meals and avoid
drinking alcohol.
* Don’t smoke cigarettes and stay away from any medications unless your
doctor has prescribed them.
* Try to avoid over indulgence in exercise and limit your
time spent in hot tubs.
Most of all take optimal care of your
body feeding it the best balanced nutrition you can provide
and seek medical
care as
needed. Doing
this will aid you
in your battle against any infertility issues.
